How search works – a Google infographic

Google Inside Search have produced this rather pretty and interactive infographic detailing just how search works.

It goes through the process of crawling and indexing the trillions of sites on the web, sorting by content before running it through their various formula and algorithms to ensure searches return the most relevant sites possible.  The algorithms used have hundred of terms, that they change often in order to prevent  spam sites getting through.  That’s the basics, but they explain it best, and in such a lovely graphic, so click the link and have a scroll down.
